Definition
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves in the brain and spinal cord. This can cause numbness, vision problems, fatigue, and difficulty walking. Symptoms vary widely, and disease-modifying therapies can slow its progression.
