Definition
Thyroid eye disease is an autoimmune condition, often associated with Graves disease, in which the tissues and muscles around the eyes become inflamed. This can cause bulging eyes, double vision, eye pain, and light sensitivity. Early referral to an ophthalmologist helps prevent lasting damage.
